Le siècle d'or de la peinture danoise
from February 08 to May 04, 2014
In partnership with the museum La Piscine in Roubaix
The distinctive light, the apparent simplicity in its portraits and an overwhelming fascination with landscapes are the major characteristics of 19th-century painting in Denmark.
A French collector, enamoured with the Danish school, acquired in just a few years over two hundred paintings spanning the entire century. The collection features almost all of the artists of the time, including Abilgaard, Eckersberg, Lundbye, Melbye and Rorbye.
